1. The self-righteously superior attitude held by many politicians toward everyone not of the same party, by many of the strongly religious toward everyone not of their religion, and for too many individuals with respect to their own opinions as compared to the opinions of others

2. The attitude most directly responsible for the rise of religious, political, and social fanaticism as well for the breakdown of civil discourse among individuals, associations, nations, religions, and civilizations with differing opinions and experience
