I’m going to see The Golden Compass in the theater. It’s a big enough deal that I’m going to find a sitter for my kids. But I might have forgotten all about the movie it it hadn’t been for all the free publicity that it’s garnered because of the proposed Christian boycott.

Hypocrisy and religion

I’m not a big fan of hypocrisy, even though I consider it to be fundamental to human nature. But not all hypocrisy is created equal, and one of the kinds I have the least tolerance for is religious hypocrisy.

Faith as an Emotional Crutch

Faith can be a crutch that others use to control you - control the length, weight, and scale of the crutch and you can make the user comfortable, uncomfortable, or throw them into pain. But if you have strong personal faith, you control your own crutch and it becomes a tool rather than an instrument to keep you hobbled.
